Okay, Radiohead's my top favorite artist right now.. The Beatles just have to share the throne with them. Other than this impressively awesome Diplo remix of Reckoner (download it below), they have been letting their fans do remixes of their tracks.

Thom writes:

There's a Remix site going up tomorrow for Reckoner here. To start things off we asked James Holden and Diplo to do their versions. Now the elements are already being passed around to other artists.. The elements of the song are soon going to be made available to you if you wanna have a go.. If it's anything like the Nude remix site it could get fairly nuts. We're off to Japan at the weekend.

Hear more of it at radioheadremix.com. The band posted in their site some further details on the project:

To coincide with asking radio stations to think about playing Reckoner we are breaking up the tune into pieces for you to remix.

After the insane response we got from the Nude remix stems and the site that was dedicated to your remixes...

Unique visitors: 6,193,776, Page Views: 29,090,134, Hits: 58,340,512, Bandwidth: 10.666 Terabytes, Number of mixes: 2,252, Number of votes: 461,090, Number of track listens: 1,745,304

...we thought it only fair to do the same with a tune that at least is in 4/4. You can get the stems (the different instruments/elements) from here.

Sample, cut, take the sounds, whatever. Play it in a club. Or your room. Then if you want you can upload your finished mixes to www.radioheadremix.com and be judged by everyone else. YOu can create a widget allowing votes from your own site, Facebook or MySpace to be sent through too.

Have fun.

Here's my list of recent awesoooooooooome groups and bands that have been on constant replays in my player. Digg it? Then comment.

Datarock

This Norwegian Group who has a flair in wearing vinyl-like tracksuits has been in every disco junkie's playlists for quite some time already.

Datarock - Fa Fa Fa
Datarock -I Used to Dance With My Daddy

Apache Beat

This New York (where else?) collective take their name from Kraftwerk’s drummer’s phrase for the krautrock motorik rhythm. Their beats owe as much to Africa as Germany, while post-punk guitars and new wave synths make them everyones right hand and the endorsements from Klaxons cement their prospects of a very rosy future.

Apache Beat - Your Powers Are Magic
Apache Beat - Tropics
Apache Beat - Tropics {CFCF Remix}

Passion Pit

"And everything is going to the beat."

If you dropeed by TBT as often as you ought to do, I've been talking about this group everytime I get the chance to. Starting life as just songwriter Michael Angelakos, Boston band Passion Pit pretty quickly have been winning the hearts, minds and feets of audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. Their key track ‘Sleepyhead’ mixes Jack Kerouak samples, squeals, falsetto choruses and dreamy synths and is indicative of their electronic appropriation of multiple sounds to make a brilliant effect.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead
Passion Pit - Better Things

Micachu

Micachu is somewhat of Renaissance artist. Micachu is the moniker of major new talent, 21 year old songwriter and producer Mica Levi. She writes electronic pop songs, sometimes delivered acoustically.

Micachu - Curly Teeth
Micachu - Golden Phone

Boy Crisis

Although drawn to the Brooklyn breeding ground for bands, Boy Crisis actually hails from Wesleyan University – whose alumni include cosmic crusaders MGMT and Amazing Baby. However, this 5-member group have chosen the sleazy electro path, and worked out a way to make desperate future/sex sounds danceable and enduring.

Boy Crisis - Dress to Disgress
Boy Crisis - Strawberries

Amazing Baby

Brooklynite psych pop collective Amazing Baby are an impossibly good looking bunch of neo-hippies. They’re currently label-less, but they’ve already conjured a whole sack of huge and skewed dreamscapes-ish songs, and with the likes of ‘Head Dress’ and ‘Supreme Being’ they’ve got enoughcredentials to float to MGMT-esque adoration.

Amazing Baby - Head Dress
Amazing Baby - Pump Your Brakes

Updates will follow... Au revoir!

Boston Legal (which is its last season anyway) and 'Til Death are the scripted shows most likely to be cancelled in the new 2008-9 broadcast television season. In fact, Fox’s Do Not Disturb was the most likely to be cancelled, but Fox beat everyone to it and already cancelled the show! The other scripted shows in significant danger of being cancelled are The New Adventures of Old Christine, Lipstick Jungle, Knight Rider, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gary Unmarried, and My Name is Earl...

How did TV By the Numbers come up with the list? They found that last season, the future of a show was nearly directly related to its adults 18-49 average viewers divided by its networks 18-49 average viewers. Many other factors may matter, but they all seemed to boil down to that one number. Last season, if a show had better than 92% of its network’s average 18-49 viewership it was pretty safe, below that level it was in danger. I’m very confident that their list will still indicate the shows most likely to be cancelled compared to those less likely to be cancelled.

Here is their list (the top is most likely to be cancelled and the bottom is least likely)

1. Do Not Disturb
2. Boston Legal
3. Til Death
4. Old Christine -- I just saw this show and I can't believe its about to be canceelled. Old Chrisitine is supremely underappreciated.
5. Lipstick Jungle
6. Knight Rider
7. Terminator
8. Gary Unmarried
9. My Name Is Earl -- I loved this show.
10. Privileged
11. Prison Break
12. The Unit
13. Cold Case
14. Ugly Betty
15. Without a Trace
16. Without a Trace
17. E.R (last season anyway)
18. Bones
19. American Dad
20. King of the Hill
21. Law & Order: SVU
22. The Mentalist
23. The Big Bang Theory
24. NCIS
25. Supernatural
26. Brothers & Sisters
27. Worst Week
28. CSI: NY
29. One Tree Hill
30. How I met Your Mother -- Oh, God, please no.
31. Fringe
32. Gossip Girl
33. Smallville
34. The Office -- I'll miss
35. Family Guy
36. The Simpsons
37. Heroes
38. Criminal Minds
39. 90210 (already renewed)
40. CSI: Miami
41. Two and a Half Men
42. House
43. Desperate Housewives
44. Grey's Anatomy

and the unscripted shows:

1. Crimetime Saturday CBS (idk what this is)
2. America's Toughest Jobs
3. Sat. Football Pregame
4. 20/20 Friday
5. Opportunity Knocks
6. Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader
7. Cops
8. Don't Forget the Lyrics
9. 48 Hours Mystery
10. America's Most Wanted
...
25. The OT (wtf is this? it's on fox)
26. America's Next Top Model
27. Sunday Night Football Pre-Kick
28. CBS Post-Game
29. NBC Sunday Football

NEW BRITNEY SPEARS TRACK: Womanizer

Britney Spears’ “Womanizer,”, which got various responses from fans and critics, is the first single from her upcoming Circus. It finally hit radio stations the morning of September 26 before getting uploaded onto YouTube.

I think its not far from her best work though. At first I thought it's repetitive and quite bland, but that is what mostly the TOP LISTS are composed of, don't you agree? Although the beats are entirely lovable, I'm having problems with the repetitive lyrics. After, what, 3 listens to my Rhapsody, I was taken. “Gimme More” kinda drew me in and I thought it was pretty good. I didn't get her last album, but this new song “Womanizer” may make me rethink that. Britney has actually evolved her voice and doesn’t seem to rely on those cliche sex sounds she makes. And just as on “Gimme More”, the production and beat on this song are both really good. Joke if you want, but Miss Spears is back.

Britney Spears reportedly shot a video for “Womanizer” yesterday at a sushi restaurant in LA, with Brit playing the role of a “vampy waitress.” In the meantime, “Womanizer” will make its television debut this Monday on a new episode of MTV’s The Hills.

Here's the download of Brit Brit's Womanizer. Enjoy!

Depending on who you ask, MGMT is either the new messiah of pop music or a couple of extraordinarily handsome charlatans who have managed to dupe the entire listening world into loving them. The duo has been described at different turns as Nu Rave, psychedelic dance music for hippies, hallucinatory space rock, and a tired throwback to New York City’s hipster-electroclash years—all of which might be a little bit true. But there’s no denying one thing: Brooklyn-based Ben Goldwasser and Andrew Vanwyngarden, who are both 25, have an uncanny knack for producing pop music that sounds as if it were filtered through a kaleidoscope...

I have a feeling this particular Freaks and Geeks star finds it hard to fit in his classes, as he is heading back to NYU. James Franco might have been trying with his backpack and clipboard, but his efforts are a waste. What with his irrepressible grin and gorgeous self, who wouldn't keep themselves boring their eyes over this heavenly god. He is actually doing a dual program with NYU and Columbia. Maybe I need to transfer schools?

Last week he poked fun at his student/celebrity status on SNL, but it seems like he's pretty devoted to getting that grad school diploma. Meanwhile on the Hollywood side of things — he signed on to star in an Allen Ginsburg biopic and has Nights in Rodanthe in theaters this weekend, but I think I'll wait for it to get in the internet...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The actor who portrays the schoolboy wizard in the Harry Potter movies received as much attention for appearing naked as for his range and depth in the London production of playwright Peter Shaffer's "Equus."
Daniel Radcliffe is now reprising the role on Broadway, and this time reviewers are concentrating on his able performance in the play first performed at the National Theater in London in 1973...

Ben Brantley of The New York Times said Radcliffe, 19, wore his part of a suburban stableboy who commits grotesque crimes against horses "like a tailor's delight -- that is, a natural fit that allows room to stretch."
"Like many beloved film actors Mr. Radcliffe has an air of heightened ordinariness, of the everyday lad who snags your attention with an extra, possibly dangerous gleam of intensity," wrote Brantley, adding his "Alsatian-blue gaze" helped his convincing performance.
USA Today carried the headline "'Equus': Radcliffe revealed as a serious actor" as reviewer Elysa Gardner said "the Harry Potter star puts to rest any arguments that his appeal should be limited to moony adolescents and maudlin grown-ups."
Like other reviewers, Gardner said Radcliffe's performance outshone the production.
"In his impressive debut in a major stage role, as the disturbed adolescent in 'Equus,' Daniel Radcliffe significantly helps overcome the fact that Peter Shaffer's 1975 Tony winner doesn't entirely hold up," said Variety.
While most reviews centered on praising Radcliffe's performance, some made reference to the nakedness that caused such a stir in London.
"Radcliffe, despite the visceral physicality of the role, appears supremely comfortable in his own skin -- and yes, kids, thanks to the nude scene, we get to see all of it," said Newsday's reviewer Linda Winer, who also called the London-born Radcliffe "a smart, intense, wildly serious stage talent."
Variety noted Radcliffe had been criticized by some London critics for a lack of vocal control but said an extra year and a half of maturity may have helped.
"His delivery here is as confident and compelling as his febrile physicality -- whether fully clothed and wary or naked and defenseless," said David Rooney.
Brantley noted the similarity between Radcliffe's role in "Equus" and that of Harry Potter with both characters coming of age "in a menacing, magical world where the prospect of being devoured by darkness is always imminent."
Radcliffe will return to the boy wizard role soon when he begins filming the final Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

I want to know too.

I don't understand how he could be so ~amazing~ in this when he's been fairly mediocre in all of the HP movies and the five minutes of December Boys that I somehow watched. It has a lot to do with directing/who you're working with as well. He works with some good people in HP, but a lot of his scenes are against Emma Watson, and people who were cast for looking like a particular character, so....

Love the band and this song very much. :) I think I agree on being taken by their "Hopes and Fears" album, but I'm glad to see they are taking steps to expand their sound.

Can't wait for their album to come out. The video's a little different than what I thought it would be, but still creative.

From their 3rd Album "Perfect Symmetry" to be released on October 14, 2008 !

Its good but i wish they would have chosen a different song to release as a single.
As much as I love Viva la Vida, this album is full of songs that cannot stand alone as singles. They put out (well are going to put out) the only 3 in my mind that do.

I Don't Know WHY I Posted this.
Maybe cause I miss Missy Elliot. I mean, C'mon, lets face it. Missy was the shit years back. Missy Elliot was the only rapper who sounds fabulous rapping about nonsensical things. No other female rapper today can do the crazy shit she can.

The very first time I encountered Timbaland was also through this video, doing a cameo for Missy in the beginning. The reversed lyrics, ingenious. Although she continued on this concept for the rest of her other songs, this style made its mark on Work it.

The video is absurd in its totality, and sometimes it's just what everyone needs.

Dakota Fanning Looking All Grown Up in The Secret Life of Bees Premier.

Dakota Fanning, along with her other costars, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, Sophie Okonedo ( in ponytail), Nate Parker (Last Image), Tristan Wilds and more.

My take on their looks:

*Jennifer looks good with her diet and all, but the arms---mmm mmm meaty.
*Q. Latifah gand her lesbian do?
*Dakota Fanning looking her best tonight. I knew she's grow out to be gorgeous. Finally a child actress minus the superficial drama. How refreshing.

NEW VAMPIRE WEEKEND TRACK: "Ottoman"

Vampire Weekend gave a favor to Kat Dennings and Michael Cera for their movie, Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, and lent it for the OST. The book was pretty good, but I'm getting sick of this whole Michael Cera obssession. He's just a kid who married his very own sister in a canceled TV show. What's more to it than that? Well, he was hilarious in Superbad, so, who am I to judge?

Anyway, here's the track. Vampire Weekends' Afro-Pop influences did them good. Real good. Download it, it's pure sweetness. The violin portion, fused with some foreign instrument I have completely no idea lends Ottoman a really catchy tune.

Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. has got it made. AKA as T.I., he has a made new tracks with music heavyweights such as Rihanna and Justin Timberlake. Here is the *fresh* track from T.i. and JT, Dead or Gone plus an extended version of Livin' Your Life.

Soon as the album is released, I will post the mp3s... Sorry!

A lot of radio stations premiered The Killers' Human and by nature, leaks are all over the internet. Sam's Town was brought to shambles (even I, the most earnest Killers fan have to agree) by various negative feeback from critics, but their recent album, Sawdust was good. Tranquilize was beyond amazing. Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf was, too. In this fashion, The Killers tries to continue their streak with Human. The piece is an amazing blend of "slowly building slice of sweet synthpop, complete with big fake-string build right before the final chorus".

Another 3 points for The Killers as they score a love scene for a Gossip Girl episode by the end of September. Shall we say--"Hell, Yeah!" for The Killers?

Though the news of Lupe Fiasco's planned farewell after his next album, then he better bring us nothing but the goods until that sad day comes. Other than his collaboration with Kanye West on "Birds and Bees", this new track was also a sweet addition to his glistening repertoire.

All aboard his second trip in the Paris Tokyo ship are guests Q Tip and Pharrell (who surprised me with his singing), made thinly placed raps that although they were quite awkward, were capably done by no less than the rap expert. Sarah Green lends fun to the mix, who is Fiasco's female follower and plays the game well with her quick-lipped soul beat. Check out the article for more of the video.

Drew Barrymore and Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl) were spotted making out while the Kings of Leon performed in the Webster Hall. Earlier reports say that Drew was with Westwick's costar, Chace Crawford. However, it was all "smokescreen" to cover up the real relationship.

Following last night’s show, Westwick, wearing leather pants and pointed shoes, accompanied Barrymore to the after-party at Bowery Electric where the pair continued their PDA. Barrymore even straddled Bass — um, we mean Westwick — in a move not dissimilar to that time Serena did it with Nate on the bar. To be honest, the whole thing kind of hurt our eyes a bit, not least because at 33, Drew is definitely the Catharine to 21-year-old Westwick’s Marcus. Needless to say, he could barely conceal his smug satisfaction all night — and left wearing the same half-smile Chuck did after he bagged Blair that fateful night in season one.

I must say, Ms. Barrymore does like her men, YOUNG. I thought she was into pathetic looking, hardly-hilarious comedians. But with Justin Long, and now Ed Westwick, this puts me in my confirmation that while Drew Barrymore goes out at night, she is out not only to party but to find the finest young ass in town.

I read this funny comment at NYmag regarding this topic, and I can't agree more:
"I know that this story is not true because when you wear leather pants and pointed shoes at the same time your body explodes." -- Worker3116

FEATURE TRACK: Van She - Kelly

Thanks to Spinner, I have come in contact with Van She music. I was actually nonchalant by the constant repetition of the band in the posts of other blogs, but once I got to listen to their tracks, I was taken. This Aussie electronica group, quite similar to Cut Copy, have made waves the size of buildings in the music world. And I'm never the one to be unattentive (pun intended). Listen to their fun track, Kelly below.

Anybody know where to find 'Sunbeams' and the tracklisting to that Van She mixtape? :-)

Play: Download Van She - Kelly

I only saw them perform with The B-52's (unfortunately on Youtube), so this day-damper was compensated by this new track from this amay-zing group. I'm glad people are paying more attention to them! Most bands make albums with only a few good songs, but Dressy Bessy doesn't have a single album like that. All the songs are good as hell. I loved Electrified so much. And Simple Girlz likewise lives up to this. Its scrumptulescent! (thanks for the word Ate May2x!)

I always loved Dragonette, and in my opinion, they are poorly overlooked as a group. Martina Sorbara's voice is sugar to my ears. Their melodies are hard to get over with.Although they are constantly compared, to, say the likes of Yelle and the Scissor Sisters, they have earned my respect well enough.

Here is a Whip Vocal Remix of Dragonette's "Competition".

Next month, The Piano Creeps are releasing Future Blues (for me and you). It's the collaboration of Billy Coté, Mary Lorson and Kathy Ziegler. The former Madder Rose songwriter and lead singer, Coté and Lorson, made 4 albums, 3 of which are good.

The pair have also joined forces to create several original film scores (including HBO's "What Remains" about the photographer Sally Mann) and one very amusing young male human. Their songs have been placed in numerous films and television shows, including the last season of "The Sopranos," "Alias," "Felicity," "Skins" (UK) and others too forgettable to mention.

Listen to their sweet sweet song, Hey Love.

WEEKLIES: Acid and Dying

~muszka

Hey dudes and dudettes! These days have been pretty exhausting in my ears. Approximately almost half of the days this week was spent listening to new tracks and thankfully, I discovered many NEW favorites, from Ra Ra Riot to Calexico and Illa J. I know it's a wee bit early for a Sunday Mix but I'm off to a busy day so, here are my picks. Enjoy!

On Friday (September 19), Kanye West posted a brief response on his blog to 50 Cent's mocking of him at a concert last weekend.

At a show in Albany, New York, 50 Cent jokingly performed a bit of West's recent single, "Love Lockdown," while G-Unit member Tony Yayo pretended to smash a camera, referring to West's arrest after a dustup with paparazzi in Los Angeles last week.

In a post where he enthused about the performance of "Love Lockdown" on an unspecified singles chart (apparently iTunes, where it just took the #1 spot), West blogged about the progress on his forthcoming fourth LP, 808s and Heartbreak, and also made a brief jab at 50.

"I just woke up from a quick studio nap," he wrote. "I've been workin' on 808s and Heartbreak about 16 hrs a day and Superman passed out for a little bit ... I'm in Hawaii but I'm still on NY time so I wake up mad early, do some business, blog, jog for an hour, play ball, eat and then hit the stu by noon. While approving the final cut for the 'Love Lockdown' vid, I marvel at the fact that it was written less than 3 weeks ago. I'm very excited about the everything ... I guarantee this will be 50's favorite album of mine. This will be gangster's album of the year."

Many are speculating that there will be another SoundScan battle between 50 and Kanye, similar to the one that took place last year when the two released albums on the same day, September 11. West solidly won that battle, and another could be in the offing, as 50 has December 9 slated for his Before I Self-Destruct LP, and Kanye is reported to be releasing his album on the 16th — although those release dates could easily be shifted to the same day.

Yayo talked briefly with MTV News about the possibility of another battle earlier this week. "That'll be fun," he said. "In my eyes, I don't think Kanye will never be bigger than Fif, no matter what his numbers do."

Hah, your jealousy is obvious, 50 Cent. Friendly advice? If you wanna beat someone who obviously rocks out better that you do, stay at home and make decent songs people could actually enjoy.
