There had been way too many remarkable songs to fit into a top 10, heck, even a top 25 list for me. So here, I'm giving you a peek into the colossal (to exaggerate it a bit) number of songs that shook, ripped and sewn together my year. 2009 bore witness to the influx of exquisitely created music from an expansive and diverse pool of genres. Indie, rap/ hiphop power reigned supreme in the charts and year-end lists. These songs may not be what you'll rank as your best 100, but I guarantee you, these are DEFINITELY worth having in your player. Spectacular post. I'm thoroughly enjoying the twelves remix of help I'm alive right now. Especially stoked to hear the miike snow song you posted (I only knew about animal before now), the big pink, and the la roux (data remix) songs, all of which I had never heard before tonight. good stuff.

FYI, The Cursive song "The Recluse" is from The Ugly Organ album which came out in 2003. It is a great song and the whole album is really good, just not 2009 track.
