TEDDYBEARS: Sweden's Badass Bears



I think I'm falling in love with Sweden even more. Lemme see, the country exports indie acts with lasting talent like Robyn, The Hives, Lykke Li, The Cardigans, The Sounds... the list goes on. Now add Teddybears Stockholm to that. Save for the menagerie of genre's they mix like pop, rock, hip-hop, electronica, reggae, punk to name a few. These guys created their music around the year I was born and they sure made some great music.

The first time I've heard of these guys was in their Cobrastyle video. I'm totally down with the rhythm and the dig digi bombi-ness of it all, but those bear heads creep me. I mean, seriously. I have a thing against clowns as well, so this isn't anything unusual. If you need to be reminded of that wild video, I posted it below.

Teddybears Stockholm's Yours To Keep is the bees' knees. There, I said it. I don't want to force the track on you, but don't prejudge the bear heads. Though it does add personality, nothing beats the good vocals from Paola and the right groove set by the trio.

Track of the Day: M83 - Graveyard Girl



This song was my lullaby at night since junior year in college. M83 has and always will be the band I can rely on to make really good music and release albums that timeless. Hearing this song play on random in my iTunes brought me to a dreamy state I've been essentially craving for a long time. Feels like someone just grabbed me from the monotonous evening and transported me into one of John Hughes' films, like Some Kind of Wonderful. So, I'm sharing this great piece of music to you guys. I've found that good song for my day. Have you?

VIDEO: Grum - Through The Night



As per usual, GRUM/Graeme Shepherd is being his brilliant Scottish self. Just fresh from his successful sold-out North America tour with my favorite DJ group, the Twelves, comes the release of his video for Through The Night. The 80's flavor is there but well-suited to the modern electronic vibe his music always have. With that theme of the music video, I'm sure I'm not the only one who agrees that Grum should give soundtrack production a try.

Eerie and dreamy quality from The xx's cover of Aaliyah's pop-infused Hot Like Fire. Their resonating echoes and accompanying guitar are the two primary things comprising the cover. When you think about it, it does seem bare but I'm really feeling this one.

Check out Ariel Pink's music video for Mistaken Wedding - a bunch of cuts from a wedding(probably his relative's as it looks homemade). Great work. This is not stealing. This is manipulating works of others and turning it to something unique and different. And in response to the theme (or what I reckon seems to be one of the major themes), I really do think there are advantages to a semi-communism form of government. If you haven't noticed, the margin between the rich and poor social classes is has sky rocketed and I don't think those demoralized moguls are planning to stop anytime soon. Capitalism can be a bitch - inequality and monopoly. Living in a materialistic society where success is defined by how much you can accumulate before you die, I find this generalized belief hard to swallow.

CULTS: Oh My God



As Adult Swim's impressive 8 Singles 8 Weeks comes to the end, it also leaves us with something to smile about. And most of it was extracted from (free) new tracks from Black Lips, Madvillain, Washed Out, LCD Soundsystem and a few more. The last installment was Cults' 'Oh My God'. The track, which is helluva catchy pop gem, comes from Cults' sold out debut 7" single. Check out their site for more of them. You can find the video for 'Oh My God' below.

CAMEO ALERT! CAMEO ALERT!

I don't know about you but celebrity cameos in music videos really draw me in. Especially if the theme of the music video is way out of their element. And not gonna lie, star power really makes for a good promotion for the artist and definitely raises those album sales. Maybe this was Brandon Flower's aim for his upcoming SOLO album, with the single Crossfire featuring the svelte and daring Charlize Theron as the heroine beating the bejesus out of ninjas, or maybe not. The nunchucks, the awezum kicking-ass Theron saving the hapless Flowers, who in the end gets abducted isn't the most original formula but it works. Who could blame him when you get to work with someone like HER?

[VIDEO x MP3] Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Garden



I feel guilty holding you all out on this TEED / Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs track that I've been hooked on for weeks. I do get a tad too possessive like when a kid rummage through the sandbox and finds that sparkly thing and wants keep it for himself. So I go about my usual days treasuring that rare find then I get this instant jolt that I should be sharing this blessed track to the world. I know its a slow process, letting go of the things I love, but here I am right?

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs has a beautiful new video for “Garden” off his newish All In Two Sixty Dancehalls EP. The video is much like his previous, earlier ones, and I wouldn't fault you for disliking it. It's the music that you should be paying attention to. Other than the fabulously genius/unforgettable band name, TEED just anointed my new favorite song for the week. Most recommended cure for the dull work days!

[VIDEO x MP3] Cee-Lo - No One's Gonna Love You (Band of Horses cover)



I would be lying if I said Cee-Lo doesn't amaze me. He conquers the stage every time he performs and has such ease in adapting to whatever style of the song he sings. Recently he did a cover of Band of Horses’ ‘No One’s Gonna Love You’, which admittedly I prefer over the original. With Cee-Lo's version makes the laid back original feels like putty. His cover is emotionally raw and powerful rendering the track a gorgeous heartbreaking vibe. And I can't begin to say how the video is all sorts of entertaining. It tells a story of a short-lived but passionate romance while driving across the country. NSFW folks, because I wouldn't say the romance was passionate if it wasn't so.

[VIDEO] Animal Collective - Guys Eyes + MP3


Animal Collective made a new video for "Guy’s Eyes", one of the tracks from their hit 2k9 album Merriweather Post Pavillion. I'm not sure why they made tis video since the song is more than a year old. Probably to revive some of the interest of music fans on their album, or a sales bump. The video looks like summer, skating, surfing and some vintage shots - what's not to like?
