EAT MORE CAKE's gets more attnetion with every passing day and their debut album 'Climb The Ladder, Live the Dream' is getting an increasing fan base. The band now presents various remixes of their new single'Has To Be Done' from Lazybones, Choking Dolphin and The Domino State. These three remixes range from the terrifying (The Lazybones) to dreamy (The Domino State). The sea of beats and bass, guitars and synths will prep you for the track's story of inner turmoil.

Eat More Cake are a 4-piece band comprising songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Andrew Briggs and Matt Pearn, drummer Alex Lane and DJ Owen Charles. Their live following continues to grow after breathtaking performances at Hatfield Forum, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Cobden Club, Camden Barfly, 93 Feet East, Hoxton Bar & Kitchen as well as many other venues in and around London. This summer sees the band take to the stage at a number of festivals including Hamswell and FIV in north-west Spain.

Beat Connection is summer. No really. My memories are triggered by sound and this song does the job. Beat Connection, which essentially are lads from Seattle, Jordan Koplowitz and Reed Juenger, create music that makes you want to wish that summer had no end. The fresh, tropical themed In The Water is free and you can preview and download their Surf Noir EP at my new favorite site Bandcamp. Below is also a link to another one of I liked, Silver Screen. RICH KID SOUND SYSTEM is more than that usual party banger you are used to. We love some no-nonsense partying but if you want to have that feel good tune and get into the groove at the same time, then Rich Kid Sound System's 'A Little Bit Of Time" is the one you should tune to. This South Florida based live band got selected on an upcoming Ford Internet campaign and with the music their making, I'm sure as hell looking forward for their big break! Looking forward to more great tunes from these guys.

This time, let's go for more de-facto Vaudeville revivalist and sublimely brilliant music from Belfast artist Duke Special aka Peter Wilson. Theatrical and colorful, his music sounds somewhat like those from Dresden Dolls' cabaret and Rufus Wainwright. His song, "Our Love Goes Deeper Than This" has bouncy and rich instrumental sounds and in "Wanda, Darling of the Jockey Club", taken from his latest release The Stage, The Book And The Silver Screen, shows off his retro side.

Again another recent introduction to music library, the Arms and Sleepers makes me want to see them perform live. Given the austere cinematic aural experience their post-rock-influenced music can generate, it definitely is the distinctive quality they have in the genre. Arms and Sleepers also toured with another favorite of mine, The American Dollar, for an event called Split/Signal. They provide the musical scores for silent short films and these guys ranked as one of the most enthralling performances in the event. The songs below come from their older work; vocals fans may enjoy their newest release, Simone. The rest of the songs are equally divine in both fore and background listening...

The Nashville-based group Tallest Trees have an upcoming album called The Ostrich or the Lark and they have given you a chance to sample their songs. If you haven't heard of them, their music has an affinity for misplaced instruments, clashing harmonies, yet all of it works into an entertaining piece. Here's what they say:

It’s kind of like “listening” to your little brother's coloring book -- lots of colors, most of them outside the lines, and the occasional slightly demented editing to the characters, but, for some reason, all the dogs and birds look normal.

Tallest Trees - Alouette! by Other Electricities

Touted by NME, Sunday Times and Artrocker to be the one to watch out for this year, Them:Youth declares October 2010 as D Day for the release of their most awaited full length effort. These rockers from London are definitely out to make some noise in the industry.

The new single, entitled Fever Rising comes out in digital format by July 2010 through Big Hand Recordings. The track is all festival-euphoria and songwriting substance neatly crafted into a song.

Gone are the references to bands like The Doves and Delphic - this is definitely nothing like they have ever embarked on before. In its place, we get consumed instead by a new urgent sound. And you will recognize it. It is the yearning that makes you cry out, the anthem you will carry with you. This is the fierce epicness that swallows you whole.

Here are 3 tracks of this fascinating one-man piano band, Pocket Vinyl with Eric Stevenson shouldering the performance of a whole group on his vocal and piano talent. Other than that, he also plays the harmonica and guitar. Whew! Pocket Vinyl has been very generous and gave the m4as of his new album, Protagonist, free to download! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS?

Not to be denied, I 'm not updated on every great musician or artist that gets a record deal or has that undeniable charm that gets featured on Daytrotter like the common music blogger. But when I heard about The Living Sisters, I just flipped. I've been pretty vocal about my love for Becky Stark, but only recently did I know about this wonderful group. This sweet-voiced harmony trio is composed of Lavender Diamond frontwoman Becky Stark, LA-based songstresses Eleni Mandell and Inara George of The Bird and the Bee. The austere simplicity and refreshing harmonies of their voices are lovely. They might remind you of The Roches at first but The Living Sisters have their own special brand of delicate, indie-folk music. Their music is light and easy but not too easy listening for the everyman. Their voices are the best instrument they have and they know how to use it. I've always been for these type of combinations and from my point of view, it's something to look forward to all the time.

As Becky said in an interview, “We’re The Living Sisters… and we love to live.” Well ladies, the music world loves you too. The Living Sisters' debut album Love to Live garnered a lot of good reviews. Everything look bright for this group and their new original single Double Knots is no doubt the best of the album. The album opener, How are You Doing features the trio swirling and blending their voices for some glorious harmonies.

Next month, The Piano Creeps are releasing Future Blues (for me and you). It's the collaboration of Billy Coté, Mary Lorson and Kathy Ziegler. The former Madder Rose songwriter and lead singer, Coté and Lorson, made 4 albums, 3 of which are good.

The pair have also joined forces to create several original film scores (including HBO's "What Remains" about the photographer Sally Mann) and one very amusing young male human. Their songs have been placed in numerous films and television shows, including the last season of "The Sopranos," "Alias," "Felicity," "Skins" (UK) and others too forgettable to mention.

On the contrary, So3 wasn't missing in action with their MIA single. The song entrance was reminiscent of The Foo Fighter's Everlong and a bit of Interpol's Heimlich Maneuver but their big-tent guitar rhythms was entirely their own.

The lyrics despite their simplicity was a good formula for a radio-hit. Mike Artamonov (vocals and guitar) was smooth in the vocals but it didn't taint the headbanger-rock quality provided by the So3's Serge Belongie. The duo detonates a Stooges-style boogie-punk bomb that could get any hooligan's fist pumping.

S03 toured to coast-to-coast--San Diego to NYC--spreading the MIA hit to an even wider audience. Listen to this ear-candy and download. For more of S03, go here.
