This Weeklies post is dedicated to all my BONGGING friends who I haven't seen for centuries. Getting together is so hard despite living in the same city. Don't you hate busy schedules?

Anyway, I had a few TBT readers ask me why,I post stuff non-music related. Although this blog may be categorized as a music blog, I still am the one who created it and when I like to share something that I think would interest some, even a few, of the readers of this blog, I post it. I hope this wouldn't cause irritation of any form to any of you readers. Around any time this year or the next, I'll be adding more content into this blog featuring stuff not only music but the whole myriad under the pop culture umbrella! For most of the time, 'd still post music but pop culture posts will we present as well. I hope you readers would view this small change as something positive for Thieves By Tuesday!

Sia's new track, You've Changed, is a perky addition to her somber and dramatic hits (i.e. Breathe Me). Also something new from Britney Spears track - Infectious - produced by Polow da Don, The Bravery's The Spectator and Lady Gaga's I'm So Happy I Could Die. VV Brown does a Rolling Stones cover, tracks from Mt. Eden and Boys Noize AND YES - The Cold War Kids are BAAAACK. :) Below is a video of Lady Gaga's performance on AMA of Bad Romance/Speechless, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind (which was probably the best performance of the night, give or take) (credit).

In less than 24 hours, Circus (Deluxe Version) has cracked the top 10 on iTunes' top albums chart coming in at #4.

I know just a few songs have leaked and they're only clips, but I can already tell this album is going to be her great comeback. And I hope I'm not speaking too prematurely in saying this, I feel like it'll be just what I need as a fan.

Britney says: BITCHES BOW DOWN

Here are a few details on Britney's performance:

Britney sung a portion of "Human Nature" with Madonna, wearing a white top and sexy tuxedo pants. Our source said Britney looked "amazing & energetic." After Britney's appearance, they lowered her off center stage; fans were going nuts.

Word on the street is Britney might make a second appearance. But don't hold your breath. :GASPS:

Before I go prepare for a series of quizzes, I just can't help but do the scandalous popstar a little favor and post her much awaited new UNCENSORED VIDEO from Britney Spears for her sexy new single Womanizer - watch it INSIDE - it's super hot.

Britney released the video that's been the hottest topic online and away from the keyboard. Everybody's favorite girlfriend is back big time and about to make a huge splash with her upcoming album Circus!

I sure loved it. I hope you do too... :)

Britney Spears’ “Womanizer,”, which got various responses from fans and critics, is the first single from her upcoming Circus. It finally hit radio stations the morning of September 26 before getting uploaded onto YouTube.

I think its not far from her best work though. At first I thought it's repetitive and quite bland, but that is what mostly the TOP LISTS are composed of, don't you agree? Although the beats are entirely lovable, I'm having problems with the repetitive lyrics. After, what, 3 listens to my Rhapsody, I was taken. “Gimme More” kinda drew me in and I thought it was pretty good. I didn't get her last album, but this new song “Womanizer” may make me rethink that. Britney has actually evolved her voice and doesn’t seem to rely on those cliche sex sounds she makes. And just as on “Gimme More”, the production and beat on this song are both really good. Joke if you want, but Miss Spears is back.

Britney Spears reportedly shot a video for “Womanizer” yesterday at a sushi restaurant in LA, with Brit playing the role of a “vampy waitress.” In the meantime, “Womanizer” will make its television debut this Monday on a new episode of MTV’s The Hills.

Finally: the "Britney Spears takes over culture" thing is pretty much over, but even after both an All Folked Up feature and a (Re)Covered revisit, her songs continue to crop up everywhere that indie hipsters crave irony...


Today's evidence comes from The Portland Cello Project, which finally hit stores this week after months of slow-burning hype. I'm by no means the first to notice The Portland Cello Project, and technically, they're not folk, either -- critics are calling the guest-vocalist-with-multiple-cello sound chamber pop; their myspace page lists them as indie/classical/rock. Listen through their whole self-titled debut, though, and you may think you've discovered yet another new folk, akin to the experimentation of, say, Abigail Washburn's Sparrow Quartet project (which also features cellist Ben Sollee).

The album tracks each feature collaboration from the Pacific Northwest indiefolk crowd, including star turns from Loch Lomond's Ritchie Young and indiefolk darling Laura Gibson; I especially like the delicate indietune Under Glass, and Stay, a wonderful, plucked-sting acoustic waltz with guest Anna Fritz. Captain Obvious gets cred for picking the Gibson and Under Glass for sampling. And PCP gets TOTAL bonus points here for a secret, hidden covertrack, which sets the Mario Brothers theme song to a classical ensemble sound, and then slowly buries it in a faux-military drumroll -- that no other blogger has mentioned that says what it needs to about how most critics listen to label freebies, sadly.

Whatever you call it, this is surprisingly solid, listenable music, covering a huge range of pleasurable soundscape; though it's among the more upbeat and fun songs on the album, their version of Toxic still comes across as authentic, not just some marching band cover. And since the Britney covers always bring a smile, and given the increasing prevalence of cello in folk music, I'll allow it just this once. With a few other recent Britney covers scavenged from the webs that fall on the edge of folk: Sia's delicate acoustic version of Gimme More, and French-Israeli singer-songwriter Yael Naim's ubiquitous pop-folktronic Toxic, just in case you haven't heard it. And so the trend continues.
