I've been the best example of a little girl lost this month, with all sorts of trouble I'm getting myself into. Another thing: Sorry for the long absence and I hope you'd find this post entertaining.

This is a good one. The Cheek’s Hung Up is originally produced by Ed Buller and mixed by Alan Moulder. More stuff coming from these guys this 2010!

:: Cheek - Hung Up (Everything Everything Remix)

Pariah has a way with remixing. They have this remixing technique that weaves ethereal notes that you might find oddly creepy but would totally kill for.

A lot of people have been saying how mediocre the Siriusmo remixes has been lately, but whoever thinks that these geniuses deliver half arsed remixes for dough should be burned at the stake!

:: Mayer Hawthorne - Green Eyed Love (Classixx Remix)

It's Sinden, for crying out loud. What more could you ask for?

:: Jack Splash - I Could Have Loved You (ft. Missy Elliot & Jazmine Sullivan) (Sinden Remix)

These two female artists are polar opposites. The Pop/Disco chart topper and the newcomer. But there are two things they have in common, radically refine taste in making music and getting awesome remixes for their singles.

Russ Chimes is King Midas. Every music he touches makes my ears bleed gold. The bold beats and epic piano rhythms keeps me hooked.

:: Steed Lord - Remember Me (Russ Chimes Remix)

The A-Trak remix is the more popular one but I'm giving credit to James Iha's symphonic and vintage-y feel.

:: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)

Don't you find it undoubtedly true that whatever track followed by the the names Lifelike, Aeroplane, Kris Menace, Prins Thomas is highly recommendable!!

WEEKLIES: Your Body Is A Machine version

[IMAGE]

Sia's new track, You've Changed, is a perky addition to her somber and dramatic hits (i.e. Breathe Me). Also something new from Britney Spears track - Infectious - produced by Polow da Don, The Bravery's The Spectator and Lady Gaga's I'm So Happy I Could Die. VV Brown does a Rolling Stones cover, tracks from Mt. Eden and Boys Noize AND YES - The Cold War Kids are BAAAACK. :) Below is a video of Lady Gaga's performance on AMA of Bad Romance/Speechless, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind (which was probably the best performance of the night, give or take) (credit).

:: Lady Gaga - I'm SO Happy I Could Die

:: Mt. Eden - Seria Leone (Dubstep)
:: Boys Noize - Superfresh (Original Mix)

Mariah Carey - 100 Percent
Lily Allen - Naive (The Kooks Cover)

The Big Pink covers Beyonce's Sweet Dreams
Lykke Li sings The Shirelle's Will You Love Me Tomorrow

Isn't this some day? First I heard a cover of The Shirelles' Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and now another one?

This time, Big Pink's doing their own version of Beyonce's chart-topper track, Sweet Dreams. Although most of us are familiar of the aggressive rock(*and a bit loud) edge of their songs, this one took me by surprise. It's sumptously mellow with the right amount of rock. The original is good, but you can't deny Big Pink scoring high with this one. Thanks to VandV!

LYKKE LI : "Tonight I'm Yours..."

[Image]

"..completely."

You might say I'm riding the wave here, but this is really a good cover of the song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Other than Lykke Li, renowned music artists like Neil Diamond, Elton John, Cher, Davin Mason and Amy Winehouse recorded their own versions of the song. I'm enamored by the song when I heard it in The Bee Gees' tribute to Carole King, in which she called the version "definitive".

While I look for that Bee Gees cover, check out Lykke Li's track and the other Amy Winehouse's version of the The Shirelles hit.

JOHN MAYER's Battle Studies

[image]

John Mayer’s muchly-awaited new album has been leaked. Yes, the entire Battle Studies album. It’s his fourth album and it was released last November 17th. According to Mayer: “The album is called Battle Studies and that’s because it incorporates a lot of the lessons, a lot of the observations, and a little bit of advice. Like a handbook, like a heartbreak handbook.”

There is no doubt in my mind that John Mayer can write pleasant pop music and accent it nicely with excellent guitar playing. Battle Studies tries to incorporate a small portion of each. Of course, Mayer experiments with new guitar sounds (Half of My Heart, Crossroads, Edge of Desire), but the basic principle of his writing says the same - simplicity.

Many of the tracks are acceptable upon first listen but you could tell it feels unfinished. The potentially great tracks like Edge of Desire, Perfectly Lonely, and Heartbreak Warfare feels lacking in variation at some points that they turn out redundant. And Half of my Heart, while a perfect pop song, is an obvious ploy for more popularity from John Mayer. Why so? Well we have the appearance of Taylor Swift in the song, which didn't add much since she didn't offer anything to the song. Who Says was a lazy track and despite being pleasant, it just doesn't have enough bang! to keep the listeners glued to it.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a better John Mayer album next time because this one is an unbelievably bland record. BUT HOW ABOUT YOU? What do you think of Battle Studies?

Sidebit: Man, look at that sleeve. Whew.

:: Who Says*
:: Heartbreak Warfare*
:: Friends, Lovers or Nothing
:: Crossroads
:: Perfectly Lonely*
:: All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye
:: Assassin
:: War of My Life
:: Half of My Heart*
:: Edge of Desire*
:: Do You Know Me

WARNING: May cause sweaty palms.

:: Beach House - Norway

This is so luscious. The vocals are really good. Excited about hearing some more. Don't you find these guys a progressively good band? The more music they make, the better they get.

:: Sebastien Tellier - L'amour Et La Violence (Floating Points Mix)
:: Dirty Projectors - No Intention (Acoustic)
:: Coeur de Pirate - Umbrella ft. Julian Dore (Rihanna Cover)

Now this is new. The unstructured feel of the acoustics is certainly foreign to basic Hot Chip tracks but it's an interesting change. If this would be remixed, it would take a high curve to do that! Looking forward to an anthem from Hot Chip to clap our hands to!

HOLY GUACAMOLE: Firepower Edition

So I saw the HBO Pay-Per-View of Pacquiao VS Cotto Firepower and it was certainly worth the paying for. It lasted 12 rounds and obviously Manny Pacquiao won. Damn, Cotto was bigger but Pacman just got the rhythm and the moves. "Manny Pacquiao is the saviour of world boxing. He is at present the pound-for-pound boxing king," (Time Magazine) and now that he won against Cotto, he's the ONLY 7 time world champion in different weights divisions. What more do I need to say?

Back to main topic, I think it's appropriate to call this post Firepower with all the new songs from hiphop heavyweight Timbaland's collaboration with Nelly Furtado and Nicki Minaj, Wale's World Tour with Jazmine Sullivan, the best of RJD2, a new track from Say Anything, One Republic and Anya Marina!

**some tracks can't be played, but you can download them. enjoy :)

:: Lil' Wayne - Sweet Dreams (feat. Nick Minaj)
:: Timbaland feat. Drake - Say Something
:: Say Anything - Do Better
:: One Republic - All The Right Moves
:: RJD2 - When In Wobbles
:: Molina and Johnson - Almost Let You In
:: Anya Marina - Two Left Feet
:: Timbaland - Morning After Dark (feat. Nicki Minaj and Nelly Furtado)
:: Wale - World Tour (feat. Jazmine Sullivan)

Lady GaGa and Beyonce Knowles' hook-up in an electro dance track called "Telephone" has hit the web. "Telephone" is not the only collaborative project between Lady GaGa and Beyonce Knowles. The two big stars also hit studio for a remix of Beyonce's single "Video Phone". Moreover, Lady GaGa will be seen appearing as Gee-yonce in its accompanying music video. 2009 is definitely Lady Gaga's year all right. Thanks for the heads up!

:: Lady Gaga - Telephone (feat. Beyonce)

:: Beyonce - Video Phone feat. Lady Gaga (Extended Remix)

This is certainly a leap away from Mary J. Blige's Whats The 411? track. I guess that’s why this unreleased track from 2007 stayed in the vaults... until now. Jay-Z sounds like he should be on here, dontcha think?

:: Mary J. Blige - Skycap (feat. Timbaland)

I have recently seen the Gossip Girl episode which featured Anya Marina's cover of T.I.'s hit - Whatever You Like. I'm afraid T.I. had to take the backseat because Anya Marina did a heck of a job in this cover. It's a big help that indie artist's get a boost with all these popular TV shows on air featuring their music - like Grey's Anatomy, The Hills, How I Met Your Mother, and a lot more. Making a cover of your song is a good form of flattery. Take is as a compliment T.I., even if the cover sounded a tad better than the original. Look out for Anya Marina's future work with Paolo Nuttini.

:: Anya Marina - Whatever You Like (T.I. Cover)

A new song from Rihanna’s upcoming Rated R album leaked not too long ago and it's is called “Cold Case Love”, written by Justin Timberlake and produced by his team.

In the song, she’s obviously taking shots at ex Chris Brown. The track is not bad but it isn’t anything to write home about. I got a *bit* bored listening to it but it finally heats up about 3 and a half minutes in. Definitely not a bad track but I'm glad it’s not a single…for now.

Do our opinions mesh or clash? Drop a comment and let me know.

ILLINOIZE: Sufjan Steven's Illinoise MASHed

Its been circulating for some time and now were featuring the mash-up of Sufjan Steven's best album. If you haven't heard, Sia Isobelle Kate Furler or 'Sia' has an upcoming album called We Are Born to be released on 2010 and will be working with Christina Aguilera. You might also find her voice familiar, as she was featured in the new 2010 Lincoln MKT commercial. Also recently, after watching Annie, Sia decided to open up her laptop, load up music program garageband and sang her own version of the track Tomorrow from the classic musical. And I just had to say, thes covers holds promising for the new album.

:: Sia - Under the Milky Way (The Church cover)

:: Sia - Tommorow (Annie Cover)

Despite the call of the season, it's steamy hot here in Southeast Asia and this track is just apt for the weather.

:: Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer

Just because they're awesome and hail from Cincinnati and make real awesome electronic music and happen to be a duo.

Shwayze, Snoop Dogg and a Remix.

Here's a short story. Shwayze is lookin' through his comb like a viewfinder and Cisco is over there chillin on the other side about to produce some sick beats. In the middle of it all, Snoop got in the picture and did some crazy shit with and called it “Livin It Up”. Mmm-mmm, still got the laidback Cali style we all love. Bonus Alan Wilkis Remix!
