Diamond Geezer | Art by See Some Work

This day marks the reissue release of Modest Mouse's landmark recording The Moon & Antarctica. This reissue also celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the album. I think its great that they are releasing the 12" remastered heavy double vinyl today, coinciding with Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores.

Recorded from July through November 1999, Modest Mouse's third album The Moon & Antarctica made it on many year-end Best Of lists in addition to ranking in the Top 10 on Pitchfork Media and Rhapsody's top of the decade lists.

Order The Moon & Antartica here!

Here's an mashup , not new, but clearly notable.

Boston Legal (which is its last season anyway) and 'Til Death are the scripted shows most likely to be cancelled in the new 2008-9 broadcast television season. In fact, Fox’s Do Not Disturb was the most likely to be cancelled, but Fox beat everyone to it and already cancelled the show! The other scripted shows in significant danger of being cancelled are The New Adventures of Old Christine, Lipstick Jungle, Knight Rider, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gary Unmarried, and My Name is Earl...

How did TV By the Numbers come up with the list? They found that last season, the future of a show was nearly directly related to its adults 18-49 average viewers divided by its networks 18-49 average viewers. Many other factors may matter, but they all seemed to boil down to that one number. Last season, if a show had better than 92% of its network’s average 18-49 viewership it was pretty safe, below that level it was in danger. I’m very confident that their list will still indicate the shows most likely to be cancelled compared to those less likely to be cancelled.

Here is their list (the top is most likely to be cancelled and the bottom is least likely)

1. Do Not Disturb
2. Boston Legal
3. Til Death
4. Old Christine -- I just saw this show and I can't believe its about to be canceelled. Old Chrisitine is supremely underappreciated.
5. Lipstick Jungle
6. Knight Rider
7. Terminator
8. Gary Unmarried
9. My Name Is Earl -- I loved this show.
10. Privileged
11. Prison Break
12. The Unit
13. Cold Case
14. Ugly Betty
15. Without a Trace
16. Without a Trace
17. E.R (last season anyway)
18. Bones
19. American Dad
20. King of the Hill
21. Law & Order: SVU
22. The Mentalist
23. The Big Bang Theory
24. NCIS
25. Supernatural
26. Brothers & Sisters
27. Worst Week
28. CSI: NY
29. One Tree Hill
30. How I met Your Mother -- Oh, God, please no.
31. Fringe
32. Gossip Girl
33. Smallville
34. The Office -- I'll miss
35. Family Guy
36. The Simpsons

James Morrison calls Madonna "the most impolite celebrity he's ever met".

James Morrison has branded Madonna "the most impolite celebrity he's ever met". The singer said so because the 50-year-old stunner she blanked him at a recording session. The 'Wonderful World' hitmaker was working at a studio in Los Angeles when he introduced himself to the Material Girl but claims she said nothing and then ignored him.

"I was recording in a studio in LA and she came in to speak to a producer and someone asked if I wanted to meet her," the Daily Star quoted him, as saying. "I'm not her biggest fan but thought I'd say hello so I went over and said: 'Hello, I'm James, nice to meet you,'' and put my hand out to shake hands.

"She just looked at it and said: 'And what do you do?' I told her I was a singer and she just stared at me and didn't say anything. It was really uncomfortable. Then she just ignored me," he said. He added: "F*** her, though, it's just a matter of common courtesy. It doesn't matter what someone does for a living. She's just rude. There's no excuse for it."

The Brit award winner, whose new album Songs for You, Truths for Me is released on September 29th, became a father at the weekend after his girlfriend Gill gave birth to a baby girl.

I know you're a living legend Madonna, but try to be nice to little people around. There are so many stories like this... Why am I not surprised she's a total bitch
He's a real songwriter and musician, not a borrower and collaborator
Try it, Madonna.

Today the The Office cast is filming the Halloween episode and Jenna revealed in her MySpace blog that they're having a very special person direct an episode this season.

Team Bella or Team Hermione? Whose Side Are You On?
Bella is magnetic. Hermione is awkward. But fans of both the Twilight and Harry Potter series pick Hermione over Bella any day. Why?
“Some girls want to see themselves as Bella,” said Megan Schuyler, who’s been capturing the wizard rock scene in her documentary film “The Wizard Rockumentary.” “If you’re feeling clumsy and different, it’s fun to imagine that some dreamy perfect guy would be obsessed with you.” - MTV Movies Blog

Along with the controversial reviews on the last book of the Twilight saga, this article was another topic for argument between the fans of both Harry Potter and Twilight... (Continue reading)

Yesterday, Jennifer Vineyard of MTV Movie Blog published the article
revealing a few insights of the Harry Potter fans about Twilight's female lead character, Bella, played by Kristen Stewart.

“She’s wimpy!” Megan Schuyler said, who’s been capturing the wizard rock scene in her documentary film “The Wizard Rockumentary". “When I went to the book release party, I wore a shirt that says, ‘Bella Sucks.’”

“I think Bella is a bit underdeveloped as a character,” said Amy Snow, of the wizard rock band Romilda Vane and the Chocolate Cauldrons. “Hermione was first and foremost a person, and she’s realistic. It’s a pity Bella doesn’t have a secret inner strength. She’s more of just a pure maiden.”

The reason writer's create fictional worlds is not to create role models, not to appease every besotted teen, but simply because they enjoy the craft of writing. It's a novel, not a guide to the world. That being said, applying a character from an entirely different novel series, a character I might add that has the ability to utilize magic and a wand to achieve greatness, in comparison to a truly vivid/realistic human without powers is a tad unfair, don't you think?

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT MOVES UP RELEASE DATE FOR TWILIGHT TO NOVEMBER 21, 2008
Los Angeles, CA August 15, 2008 — TWILIGHT, the first film in Summit Entertainment's thriller romance franchise, has moved up its North American release date to Friday, November 21, 2008. The film, which was previously planned to be released on December, 12, 2008, is taking advantage of an opening in the upcoming fall release calendar. The new release date for TWILIGHT allows the studio to both bring the film to the written-series' enormous fan base sooner, and to present the film in more theatres prior to the holiday movie-going season where traditionally screen time for any popular film is limited... MORE INSIDE

"When Warner Bros. decided to move HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE to the summer of 2009, we saw a unique opportunity to slot in our film which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months," said Rob Friedman, Co-Chairman and CEO of Summit Entertainment. "We by no means are trying to fill the shoes of the incredible POTTER franchise for 2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans of Stephenie Meyer's incredible book series the film as soon possible from a programming perspective."

Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the thriller-romance based on Stephenie Meyer's publishing phenomenon, the film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a script by Melissa Rosenberg (STEP UP). Karen Rosenfelt (DEVIL WEARS PRADA), Greg Mooradian and Wyck Godfrey will produce along with Mark Morgan via his Maverick Films banner.

TWILIGHT tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan (Stewart) who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward Cullen (Pattinson), a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together...even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires. Their unorthodox romance puts her in physical danger when Edward's nemesis comes to town and sets his sights on Bella.

It's a good choice, but I was hoping for it to come out this December, something to do with Christmas and celebration. And the fact that Harry Potter was also moved (but to a later date).

What if WB's gonna be like, "Psych, we're pushing HP back to November 21." God, that would be a hella fun. But impossible.

Anyways, all this moving of release dates is nauseating.

NEWS: Is There a Dark Knight Curse?

The Dark Knight is a bleak and jittery bad dream of a summer blockbuster  but the movie has nothing on real life.

Morgan Freeman’s car accident, which left the Oscar-winning actor with serious injuries, was only the latest stroke of bad luck to make audiences wonder if there was a curse of The Dark Knight similar to the tragic aura surrounding the films Poltergeist and Rosemary’s Baby

Talk of a curse started with the deaths of Heath Ledger and Conway Wickliffe, a special effects technician who was killed while performing a stunt on set in London. The film is dedicated to both. The arrest of Christian Bale a few days after the film’s opening – and Freeman’s accident on a Mississippi highway – only added to the conjecture.

Freeman was reported to be in good spirits Monday. A business partner told Entertainment Tonight he needed surgery for a fractured left elbow. Bale, who was arrested in relation to accusations of assault from his mother and sister, hasn’t been charged.

Batman often says in the comics that criminals are a "superstitious, cowardly lot," and the latest misfortunes have given the superstitious a lot to think about. What do you think of the dark chain of events surrounding this summer’s biggest blockbuster? Is it a curse or terrible coincidence?

Creepy right?

But I guess it takes one more for me to believe. Cough Maggie Gyllenhall, Cough Cough.
Kidding. But not really. **
